When a workflow, an AI agent or a teammate asks a customer to show an issue, the widget shows a card with Take screenshot or Record my screen. On the customer’s tap, the widget moves out of the way and a small bar appears over your app. The native iOS and Android SDKs capture your app when the customer taps Capture or Start. Workflows, AI agents and teammates can also collect logs from your app without asking the customer. How to ask, what the customer sees and what your team gets: Screenshots, recordings and logs.
Needs the React Native SDK 19.1.0 or later. Older versions show the card with Upload a file only.

How your app is captured

  • The SDK captures your app’s own screens, without the keyboard and without Gleap’s own UI. There is no system prompt, and you don’t need to add permissions or Info.plist keys.
  • Recordings run at about 4 frames per second, without sound, up to the maximum length set in the dashboard (3 minutes at most). On Android, they need Android 8.0 or newer.
  • TextInput fields with secureTextEntry are blacked out automatically. On iOS, so are fields whose textContentType is password, newPassword, oneTimeCode or creditCardNumber. Other views can’t be masked from React Native.
The platform details are on the iOS and Android pages.

Turn screenshots, recordings and log requests off

Both are on by default and can be called before or after initialize. On a native build without capture support, for example when only the JavaScript bundle was updated over the air, the calls do nothing.
