# React Native SDK: Screenshots and recordings requested in conversations

Let customers send in-app screenshots and screen recordings when a workflow, an AI agent or your team asks for them, with the Gleap React Native SDK.

When a workflow, an AI agent or a teammate asks a customer to show an issue, the widget shows a card with **Take screenshot** or **Record my screen**. On the customer's tap, the widget moves out of the way and a small bar appears over your app. The native iOS and Android SDKs capture your app when the customer taps **Capture** or **Start**. Workflows, AI agents and teammates can also collect logs from your app without asking the customer.

How to ask, what the customer sees and what your team gets: [Screenshots, recordings and logs](https://gleap-developer-docs.gleap.help/en/articles/714-screenshots-recordings-and-logs).

> **Note:** Needs the React Native SDK 19.1.0 or later. Older versions show the card with **Upload a file** only.

## How your app is captured

- The SDK captures your app's own screens, without the keyboard and without Gleap's own UI. There is no system prompt, and you don't need to add permissions or `Info.plist` keys.

- Recordings run at about 4 frames per second, without sound, up to the maximum length set in the dashboard (3 minutes at most). On Android, they need Android 8.0 or newer.

- `TextInput` fields with `secureTextEntry` are blacked out automatically. On iOS, so are fields whose `textContentType` is `password`, `newPassword`, `oneTimeCode` or `creditCardNumber`. Other views can't be masked from React Native.

The platform details are on the [iOS](https://gleap-developer-docs.gleap.help/en/articles/444-ios-sdk-screenshots-and-recordings-requested-in-conversations) and [Android](https://gleap-developer-docs.gleap.help/en/articles/476-android-sdk-screenshots-and-recordings-requested-in-conversations) pages.

## Turn screenshots, recordings and log requests off

```javascript
import Gleap from 'react-native-gleapsdk';
// The card then only offers "Upload a file".
Gleap.setCaptureEnabled(false);
// Log requests are answered as not supported, and captures are sent without logs.
Gleap.setRemoteLogCollectionEnabled(false);
```

Both are on by default and can be called before or after `initialize`. On a native build without capture support, for example when only the JavaScript bundle was updated over the air, the calls do nothing.
