# Android SDK: Conversations

Open and manage customer conversations with the Gleap Android SDK. Follow the integration code examples.

## Start a new conversation

You can manually start a new conversation with the following method:

```javascript
Gleap.getInstance().startConversation(true);
```

## Open the conversation history

If you'd like to manually show the conversation history of the Gleap widget, you can do so by calling the following method:

```java
Gleap.getInstance().openConversations();
```

To hide the back button, pass `false`: `Gleap.getInstance().openConversations(false)`. The `showBackButton` argument works as expected since SDK **v19.0.0**; before, it did the opposite.
